My Grandpa

I wish I had a digital picture to post of my grandpa, but nope. He passed away last Friday, and his memorial service is today. He is the last of my grandparents to pass away.

Anyways, I just wanted to post a little something about him, since it was too difficult for me to go. My grandpa was a man with a sense of humor. He always seemed to joke around (or at least that's how I saw it when I was little). He even liked to tell Mark jokes (you should ask him what they were!). He has been generous to my small little family, though he had very little. He was a very hard worker, and was a farmer most of his life. We would go help him on the farm when we were little during the summer for a few days. Despite the horrible smell, I enjoyed it. Because of circumstances, I was not able to see him for over 20 years, but was able to keep in touch with him by phone and email and letters over the last 10 years. I was hoping to visit him soon, but that wasn't meant to be. We hope you have peace, Grandpa! I love you.

Marks parents came up for a day last weekend. It was fun. One of the activities we did was make gingerbread lanterns. You cut out holes in the pieces of gingerbread and then you put crushed hard candies in the holes you popped out and cook the gingerbread like that. The candies melt. It makes colored windows. Then you can put a candle in it. We never got to the candle part because the kids ate their creations too fast.
We got our Christmas tree on Saturday and then did the decorating on Sunday. Mark is making a fire. You can see our stockings are hung by the chimney with care, in hope that ...
